Tamara Engelbrecht Carvajal
Tamy is an immigrant from Chile, community organizer, and advocate committed to empowering low-income immigrants and other underserved community members. Drawing on her own experience adapting to new countries and cultures, she is passionate about creating opportunities for newcomers to access resources, develop leadership skills, and fully participate in community life.
Through her work in community engagement, international programs, and advocacy, Tamy has helped build inclusive spaces that foster connection, belonging, and civic participation. She brings experience in leadership development, community outreach, and empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and their communities. Her commitment to equity and community empowerment strengthens IWNJC's mission of building community power and advancing opportunities for low-income immigrants and refugees.
