Temporary Housing
We provide temporary housing solutions to ensure newly arrived immigrants and refugees have a safe and stable place to reside during their transition.
Our team helps newcomers navigate the complexities of their new environment by connecting them with essential resources and services, including healthcare, education, insurance, legal support, and more.
Community Resources
We offer job readiness classes, resume workshops, and job placement assistance to help individuals secure meaningful employment opportunities.
Employment Assistance
We advocate for affordable housing options and provide support throughout the rental application process, ensuring that individuals can access safe and sustainable housing.
Permanent Housing Support
Through our job readiness classes, ESL courses, and leadership classes, we equip immigrants and refugees with the skills and confidence needed to succeed in their new community.
Empowerment Programs
We advocate for systemic change and policy reforms to address issues such as affordable housing, tenant rights, and immigration policy, amplifying the voices of our community.
Advocacy Initiatives
Our mentorship program pairs immigrants and refugees with experienced local mentors who provide guidance, support, and encouragement throughout the first five years of transitioning into a new community. Mentors not only help immigrants and refugees navigate the complexities of resettlement but also assist in developing leadership skills and empowering individuals to advocate for themselves and others within their community.

Requirements
We want to serve as many families as we can, especially those new to Johnson County. To do this, we ask that families only apply if they are:
New to the United States and have lived in the country for less than 5 years
New to the area and do not have a home in Johnson County
Priorities
Applicants will receive priority on the following basis:
Families with minor children will be prioritized over individuals, couples, or families with only adult members
Families that have most recently arrived in Johnson County
Families that have no pre-existing support systems in the community (e.g., family members living in Johnson County)
Families that have little or no personal financial means or that have not received government assistance
Families with documents and those without documents will be considered equally
Leadership Academy
Our Leadership Academy empowers emerging immigrant and refugee leaders through workshops, mentorship, and public speaking opportunities. Participants learn about civic engagement, leadership development, and how to effectively advocate for their communities.

What We Teach
Civic Engagement
Civic engagement empowers immigrants and refugees to understand their rights, responsibilities, and the systems that shape their communities. By encouraging participation in local government and public life, individuals gain the confidence to advocate for themselves and create lasting change.
Immigrant Advocacy
Immigrant advocacy promotes policies that protect the rights, dignity, and well-being of immigrants and refugees. Through education, outreach, and advocacy, we work to remove barriers and create opportunities for safety, belonging, and long-term success.
Community Organizing
Community organizing brings people together to identify shared challenges, build collective power, and create meaningful change. By strengthening relationships and encouraging collaboration, communities can advocate for solutions that benefit everyone.

Offered in both fall and spring, the program includes a series of 6–8 interactive workshops, mentorship, and culminates in a graduation ceremony celebrating participants’ achievements.
