Board of Directors
Eric Jones
Eric moved to Iowa City in 1999 to attend the University of Iowa’s Nonfiction Writing Program. After graduating, he worked as a nursing assistant at UIHC’s Burn Unit and started Adamantine Spine Moving, a household moving and storage company that now includes locations in Iowa City, Des Moines, and Madison, Wisconsin. In his twenty-plus-year career in the caregiving and service industries, he’s become fascinated by the power of such work to transform our lives. He began volunteer work with immigrants in 2022 when he joined a Sponsor Circle to help an Afghan family settle in Iowa City, and now feels very lucky to count them as friends. As someone who’s made a living carrying heavy things, he believes that most people underestimate the power of simple acts of service.

"I wanted to join IWNJC's board because I think welcoming a new person - into a home, a neighborhood, or a community - is one of the kindest and most hopeful things a person can do.”
